It’s the midyear report for the most consumed songs of the year so far. The year-to-date chart by Hits Daily Double examines how consumers now listen to music. As apparent as it was in the mid-year report for the biggest albums of 2020 (so far), hip-hop once again dominates the most streamed songs of the year.
Breakout artist Roddy Ricch snags the top spot with the ten-week No. 1 single “The Box” with over 700 million streams. Ricch makes another appearance in the top 10 with “High Fashion”, as well as with “Ballin” at No. 16. With a steady gap between the No. 1 and No.2 positions, Future and Drake’s “Life is Good” is at No. 2 with over 450 million streams, similar to the song’s peak position on the Billboard Hot 100.
The Weeknd, Post Malone, Lil Baby, Justin Bieber, Billie Eilish, DaBaby and Drake all have two entries on the chart.
Most impressive is Saint JHN’s 2016 hit “Roses” at No. 28 - as well as Dua Lipa and Doja Cat making sure pop music doesn’t go unnoticed with “Don’t Start Now” and “Say So” in the top five.
