A$AP Rocky details his new album and his relationship with Rihanna in a new feature with GQ. The rapper says fans can expect an expansion on his sound and style with the forthcoming project, ‘All Smiles’.
“It’s all about the evolution,” he says of ‘All Smiles’. “If I’m still doing the same shit with the same sounds and the same bars and the same visuals from years ago, what’s the point? You got that catalog. You can go revisit that.”
He also says he was “emotionally discouraged” when his last album, ‘Testing’, peaked at No.6, and he doesn’t pay attention to critics and will continuously experiment with new sounds. “I don’t think that’s really my concern. I’d be confused, man. I just want to make some good music, that’s all. I want to feel great about doing it, and I want people to feel great about hearing it”.
For the album, he collaborated with former Smiths frontman, Morrissey, and received creative help from none other than, Rihanna. “I think it’s important to have somebody that you can bounce those creative juices and ideas off of,” he says of Rihanna who has influenced his music.
He also proclaims that Rihanna is the love his life, and the “one”. Read the full feature here.
