In an appearance on Louis Theroux’s Grounded podcast, FKA Twigs recounts her abusive experiences with Shia LaBeouf. The singer revealed additional details on her mentally and physically abusive relationship with the actor.
Twigs reveals that during the relationship, Shia wouldn’t let her make eye contact with other men: “Being nice to a waiter, or being polite to somebody, that could be seen as me flirting or wanting to engage in some sort of relationship with somebody else, when I’m literally just ordering pasta… I was told that I knew what he was like and if I loved him, I wouldn’t look men in the eye,” she said. “That was my reality for a good four months”.
She went on to reveal that he would wake her up in the middle of the night and accuse her of staring at the ceiling and thinking of ways to leave him, as well as not wanting to be with him because she would be awake at early and late times. Twigs then speaks on being strangled at a gas station, with bystanders refusing to do anything. Also, threatened to crash his car in the desert unless she told him she loved him.
Shia would also track how many times she would kiss him and would start being aggressive if it didn’t meet his “quota”.
Twigs reveals she’s also helping Shia to get help: “We are actively seeking the kind of meaningful, intensive, long-term inpatient treatment that he desperately needs”
