Jorja Smith Releases A Cover Of The Jazz Classic "Rose Rouge"

On the second anniversary of the soulful debut album Lost and Found, Jorja Smith is eyeing a new sound.

Since the release of the album, Jorja explored with Afro-Caribbean sounds on the Burna Boy assisted single “Be Honest”. Making noise across airwaves, the song revived an up-tempo energy that was reminiscent to her hit record “On My Mind”.

Last year’s track was followed by her most recent release titled “Kiss Me In The Morning”. The song appeared on the soundtrack for the new Netflix series The Eddy by Damien Chazelle. Toying with jazz instrumentation, the song was an indicator for what was to come next.

Jorja Smith reimagines a Jazz classic by St. Germain. The song “Rose Rouge” was a single off of Germain’s album Tourist from the year 2000. Modernizing the song for a fresh new take that works for today’s soundscape, Jorja strengthens her range with a band that brings the soul to life.

The song is Jorja Smith’s contribution to Bluenote Re-Imagined which is expected to be released in September.
