Lana Del Rey has released her first ever audiobook. The spoken-word album titled Violet Bent Backwards Over the Grass is a collection of poetry by the singer-songwriter.
The highly anticipated book of poetry is a collection of poems that Lana says she worked “laboriously” on to create. Known for ushering a sharp contrast to pop music with her 2012 debut album Born To Die, Lana has been applauded for her descriptive songwriting techniques. Poetry and spoken word have been prominent in Lana’s career, as she had utilized such for monologues in music videos which include “National Anthem” and “Ride”.
Violet Bent Backwards Over the Grass is comprised of her strengths as a storyteller. Displaying another side to her abilities, Lana relies on soft-spoken vocals to elaborate on the authenticity of her creations.
The book is comprised of over thirty poems, while they’re brought to life with a spoken word audiobook with a selection of fourteen poems with help from Jack Antonoff.
