Pharrell stopped by Drink Champs, hosted by N.O.R.E & DJ EFN. During his appearance, the musician spoke about all things that ranged from his recording process with Justin Timberlake for the singer’s debut solo album ‘Justified’, who ‘Justified’ was actually intended for, and even the Pusha T-Drake beef.
“Michael turned us down too”, Pharrell said. “John McClain was his manager at the time. We sent him pretty much all the stuff y’all are hearing on the Justified album. That’s all the Michael stuff”.
“All but one song, they were all written for Michael”, Pharrell revealed about the 2002 debut album by Justin Timberlake which was entirely produced by The Neptunes. But that’s not all, Pharrell revealed one of his classic hits, “Frontin”, was turned down by Prince (during a conversation with Gwyneth Paltrow).
He then went on to address Pusha T and Drake’s infamous-2018 beef. “I didn't wanna see that go that way. That didn't make me happy," he said. "I hate to see what him (Pusha) and Drake are going through—or what they went through. I hated to see all of it, every bit of it ... it wasn't good”.
“Pusha didn't tell me, because he knows I would've stood in front of him as much as I could," Pharrell continued. "But he's a different kind of person. He's a Taurus. And Taurus people ... when you feel like a line is crossed and you take off the gloves, that's where your brain is at, you know what I'm sayin'? Whereas, Drake is a Scorpio, and they never forget ... It's just the worst combination of two people who are very pure and very loyal to the people they love”.
Pharrell also revealed that Drake did in fact, have a collaboration with Adidas. He also says that he and Drake are “cordial” and the beef didn’t affect their relationship. Click the links above to check out the interview.
