Reason Name Drops Mac Miller On New Song

TDE is beginning its label roll out with new albums, and up first is latest signee, Reason. The rapper has just shared his sophomore release New Beginnings.

The album features fellow TDE members ScHoolBoy Q, Isaiah Rashad, and Ab-Soul. It also features contributions from Vince Staples and J.I.D. And while it’s a noteworthy project for the young star, a certain on the album is capturing attention from listeners for the wrong reasons.

On the song “Fall”, the rapper name drops Mac Miller and leaves listeners conflicted on whether or not it was disrespectful of him by doing so. Reason mentions yes-men in the industry while claiming rappers who fall into the trap could become “the next Mac Miller”.

Reason raps:
“Look, you said you wanna be an artist
Well, we gon' turn you to an addict
Get rid of the — that you got on with
Then give you the tools to dig your own shit
Surround you with some wack —
Some yes men that's gon' tell you that your raps iller
A couple cars, some jewelry, make your stacks bigger
Then one day you could become the next Mac Miller
Here's your chance, —, sign here”

Fans were quick to come to the defense of the late rapper while questioning Reason’s intentions as some deemed it “insensitive” and disrespectful.
